Re: Enclosed Trailer 28+ ft

towing anything other than equipment with a pintle hitch is rough. Beats the crap out of the cargo, your truck, trailer and YOU.

Re: Enclosed Trailer 28+ ft

Its basically designed to be universal. And generally pretty heavy duty. Any dump truck pulling a backhoe down the road has the trailer hooked up via Pintle. Designed so that there is never and hitch changing, wrong ball size etc. No guessing. Just hook up and go. A locking hook on the truck, dozer, dumptruck, stakebody etc.....all the same. And a loop on the trailer, piece of equipment (ie. generator, air compressor, flatbed trailer. etc)

as far as weight, that depends on your receiver. 28 ft is not much. Pops used to tow loaded 32-34 ft enclosed race cars trailers off the back of his suburban. to give you an idea, he now pulls a 28ft stacker hanging off the back of his motor home (with a Class V hitch) that comes in at around 14,000lbs loaded if i remember correctly. 2 cars, lift, tool boxes, tire carts, golf cart, etc. gooseneck and 5th wheel trailers will handle better because it puts the weight over the rear axle and not behind the truck.

Re: Enclosed Trailer 28+ ft

The one I am currently looking at is a Class V, tri-axle 34 ft recessed tie downs, new tires, electric brakes, new paint and reflectors and brand new LED light pkg, new paint due to living in arizona and having sun and wind deterition, OPEN trailer now living in NJ and has no need for it, has pix of Full size Chev Ext cab and a Jeep on it at the same time, WITH the Ext Cab on the TAIL END! YIKES! No tool box etc.... 3500$ ooo 15" tires and 5K axles so 15K tow cap?

Re: Enclosed Trailer 28+ ft

You can pull a stacker from the hitch, not hardly over loading it with a 28ft trailer. Ive seen people do it, with 2-3 cars in there.

However as you get into trailers 30+ feet I would recommend a goose neck as well. You will want it for the ease of turning it alone.
