Why is the price of diesel so high?

I was just wondering why is diesel the most expensive fuel at the gas station? It going for 3.35-3.45 a gallon in Maryland

Its pretty much the same as home heating oil. So in the winter time when home heating oil goes up so does diesel. Then in the summer when home heating oil is cheap so is diesel. I know people who run home heating oil in there diesels.
Its not hard to have the badest ranger out there. Just ask me how!!!!!!!!!
