6.5 diesel anyone??

anybody know anything about a 6.5 chevy diesel?? im thinking about getting a dually for a tow rig and i found one that is a 99 chevy crew cab dually 2wd 5spd. i just dont anything about these motors and much less diesels in general.

there is also an ext cab 97 454 on the same car lot. i know the diesel is gonna have more torque but which will have the better mpg loaded and unloaded?

any info you guys can give me would be awesome

btw the diesel has just over 100,ooo on the clock and the 454 has i think 74,ooo

the 6.5 was not one of Gm's prized moments when it came to engines. the better choice would probably be the 454, the torque #'s are probably close, but you're gonna have to feed that thing alot and gas prices suck right now.

i gotta call today and see what kind of price tag the guy has on them. i hate the factt here is no price on the cars when you stop to look. makes you have to take to a salesman :ohnoes:

what kind of gas mileage can i expect with the 454 loaded? right now im getting 11-13 loaded with my avalanche and i would like to do better than that if i could.

Re: 6.5 diesel anyone??

Either one will suck the gas. But I think the 454 will be better i the long haul. If its not the duramax diesel on that chevy IMO dont buy it. I know that feeling of no prices on cars. I will not go to a car lot where the price isnt posted on the vehicle just a thing i have I guess. Then they can say its 9k when its actually 8k once they see you drive up in a certain vehicle etc. have a cute girl GF wife etc go there first and ask for the price of the trucks then a couple days later you go in and I bet the prices are different.
